My Background
I fell in love with theatre while performing as a wall in my Kindergarten class performance of Stone Soup. I was hooked then and there. I continued involvement in performance wherever I could, auditioning for shows all the way through high-school. I always believed I would become an actor.
I attended Adams State College in Colorado where I earnd a B.A. in Speech and Theatre. My focus was on performance and direction, but I found that I also enjoyed and excelled at design work. . I graduated in 2004 with plans to go on to an MFA program, but as it often does, life had other plans
I decided to return to school in 2021 for a BFA focusing specifically on Theatre Technology and Design with scenic and costume design as my focus areas. With advancements in technology over the years, I needed classes to refresh my design skills and help me become a high-quality designer. It has been a challenge, but one that I have risen to. I have found my footing as a designer, a mother, and an individual.
Part of my individuality has been accepting my disabilities and chronic illnesses as a part of who I am and being proud of that part of me. I have seen and experienced the way the world limits those of us with disabilities due to the way that it is structured and designed. We have an opportunity moving forward to create a world that is diverse, accessible, and beautiful on stage and behind the stage.
I am looking forward to whatever adventures life brings me next.
